Hi, and welcome to Second Grade! My name is Chris Pickerign and I thought it may be nice to know a little bit about who your child will be spending most of their school day with. I graduated from St. Croix Falls High School and then attended the University of Wisconsin River Falls where I majored in Elementary Education. After graduating from River Falls I took my first teaching position here in Cornell teaching Second Grade in 1993! Yes, that was a while ago!! Furthering my education, I received my Masters Degree from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire in 1997. Since being in Cornell I have taught Second, Third, Fifth, Sixth, and Fifth/Sixth Language Arts – Whew! As well as being a teacher in Cornell I have also coached varsity volleyball and track. I am married and have a teenage son and daughter. In my free time I love spending time with my family, camping, going for walks, and riding bike.
Mrs. Steinmetz Hello! My name is Chelsey Steinmetz & I'm very excited to be teaching second grade this year. I am originally from Eau Claire, and graduated from Eau Claire North high school. I received my undergraduate degree from UW-LaCrosse in Elementary Education, and my Master's degree from UW-River Falls in Reading. I am married and have two children. In my free time I love spending time with my family and taking trips to our family cabin up north.
